Computers, in the present day, are linked in a fundamental sense, with demands for regulation and questions of availability – with the desire for and the fear of control. What forms of availability are these? What is the relationship between the computer's forms of manifestation and its conditions? How do interfaces – linking hardware, software, human and thing – mediate our relationship to the computer as medium and as a machine of power? What are the worldviews and models produced by the surfaces used daily for “tapping, swiping, pressing, clicking”? What do the current debates about “Industry 4.0,” “ubiquitous computing” and “the post-Snowden era” have to contribute?
