Workshop “Poetics of Activism: Ecology & Media”
Together with Cinepoetics – Center for Advanced Film Studies (Freie Universität Berlin / Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF) and the Collaborative Research Center 1512 “Intervening Arts” of Freie Universität we cordially invite you to the workshop “Poetics of Activism: Ecology & Media”.
The workshop addresses the question of the specific poietic dimension of a political ecological activism in audiovisual images – a dimension that is sometimes lost between the more evident aesthetic procedures of fictional scenarios and knowledge transfer on the one hand and the questions of immediate real-life impact on the other hand. But what are the world-projections and spatio-temporal dynamics of direct action focusing on affected communities or institutional processes and how can the question of impact be hauled in with that? What kinds of feelings of solidarity do audiovisual images evoke in order to link aesthetic pleasure to political resistance? In what way are the projections of world and their reflection interwoven with dimensions of class, race, gender and which alternative imaginations of future and forms of quantification can be found?
The event will be held in English. To attend the workshop, please register with .
